Kyle Choi Charity Golf Tournament

Sponsored by Progressive Insurance, Kyle’s father Conrad’s employer, which has made Kyle the key focus of this charity golf event.

The golf event will take place at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo on Saturday, September 6 starting at 1:30 pm. Registration will open at 11:30 am.

Tournament entry fees include a round of golf, lunch, and dinner. There are a number of ways to participate:
(Tournament foursome + Partial Hole Sponsor) package ($650)
(Individual tournament entry + Partial Hole Sponsor) package ($165)
Individual tournament entry only ($125)
Dinner only ($45)
Pre-sale raffle tickets (15 tickets for $25)
Opt-in for Hole in One Challenge (for tournament entrants) ($10)
Opt-in for Putting Challenge (for tournament entrants) ($10)
Raffle tickets at the event ($2 each)
Partial Hole Sponsors will get to see their names as they tee off!

2nd Annual Strengthened by Faith Basketball Jam

The Kyle Choi Basketball Tournament was such a success that it will be repeated this year, this time as a Jamboree. It will take place on the weekend of August 23-24, using gyms at Hogan High School, Benicia High School, Benicia Middle School, Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish, and Saint Basil Parish.

The Jamboree is open to both boys’ and girls’ teams, from 4th grade through high school. For more information, contact Gerald Cabalse at (707) 554-1775 or gerald.cabalse@eds.com, or view/download this flyer.

The Jamboree needs more teams! As of July 21, many teams have not turned in their entry forms. We can’t schedule the brackets until we know how many entrants are in each division, so please reply promptly!

Rubio's Night

Join us and have a good time, enjoy a great meal, and support the Kyle Choi Leukemia Foundation. Whether you crave to eat in or have a taste for take-out at Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, just present a flyer (that was distributed to the schools) to the cashier at the Plaza Drive Rubio’s anytime between 4PM and 8PM and the franchise will donate 20% of your transaction to the Foundation.

This event was well-attended by students and faculty from Saint Patrick/Saint Vincent High School, as well as by quite a few students and families from many of the feeder parochial schools to Saint Pat’s.

Bone Marrow Registration Drive

At the Fall Festival at Vallejo’s Saint Catherine of Siena Church, the Catholic Youth Ministry, with the aid of the Asian American Donor Program, hosted a bone marrow registration drive in honor of Kyle. The drive is to encourage Asians and other minorities to register as potential bone marrow donors. Outside of immediate family, the chances of an individual having a compatible tissue type with another are one in 100,000 to one in 1 million. Minorities are substantially underrepresented in the National Bone Marrow database, and as a result, it is much, much, harder for them to find a matching donor, on the average only 25%. For Asians, it’s even smaller: only 7% of the entries in the national registry are from those of Asian/Pacific Islander heritage.

Reno Trip / Casino Tour

There was a one-day casino tour package to Reno, visiting the Silver Legacy Casino Resort, and the Nugget Hotel and Casino, during Reno’s famous “Hot August Nights.” Many of the streets were closed due to the classic car parades and hundreds of outdoor festivities.

The Kyle Choi Basketball Tournament was a combined effort of the Choi family, the friends and family of the Chois, and the Vallejo Renegades basketball organization. It was held over the weekend of June 30-July 1, using gyms at the Mare Island Sports Center and Saint Patrick/Saint Vincent High School.
