What's Going On and When (Tentatively)
On Friday Night, we will have the initial pair-ups of teams. The plan is for 15-minute halves with a running clock. This will allow ample room for halftime (which we old guys need a lot of), warm-ups between games, and delays. After the initial round, we can then schedule the matchups for the following day and give the tired joints and muscles time to recover. On Saturday, we continue with second and succeeding rounds. The tournament will be double-elimination, giving each team the opportunity to play a minimum of two games.
On Saturday, in between games and at halftimes, we will conduct the shoot-out contests. We will call out two of the participants, and they will be given a set time (30 seconds or 60 seconds) to make as many baskets as they can from certain spots on the court. Each will shoot at opposite ends of the court and will be going for total points, not playing against each other. The highest point total in each age/gender category will receive a grand prize.
Times are approximate and depend on how many teams we have and how quickly the preceding games end.

* - Volleyball is a thin turnout - it looks like we'll have a Moms vs. Daughters match!
** - In between games and during halftimes, we will have shootout contests for the kids.
